The incredible efforts that Sustainable Surplus does for the
community and environment will be featured in a story on NBC News at 4 pm
tomorrow, February 7.
The NBCUniversal Foundation, through its 21st Century
Solutions Grant program, awarded three local nonprofits for their innovative, high-impact initiatives in the
areas of Civic Engagement, Education, Environment, Jobs and Economic
Empowerment, Media Arts and Technology.
SSE is joined by nonprofits: Solutions for Change and the
Interfaith Services.
SSE was awarded $25,000 for its program,
working to grow sustainable practices in sourcing and use of resources, by
repurposing items from businesses and diverting the path of items to
landfills.
The Exchange Program provides the business community a
channel to redistribute their out-of-use assets for reuse to organizations in
the educational and non-profit sectors. This flow reduces the carbon
footprint of the business and creates an opportunity for the non-profit sector
to make use of these assets for an ultra-affordable price.
