Prava CEO Joins Sustainable Surplus Board

Prava Construction Services CEO and President, Glenn Torrez, joined the board of directors of nonprofit Sustainable Surplus Exchange (SSE).  In tracking with its fast growth and zealous strategic plan SSE is expanding its board.

“Glenn brings much experience and knowledge to our group,” said Prelozni. “His presence is a terrific connection in a key segment of our business outreach - construction - and another link to driving our goal of sustainability.”

Additionally, Mr. Torrez adds strong board experience.  He presently serves on the board of both the North County Chamber of Commerce and the Boys & Girls Club of North County.

Regarding his choice to work with SSE Mr. Torrez commented, “I wanted to get involved with an organization where I could use my expertise as an entrepreneur and commercial builder that helps our environment.  He added, “I feel we, PRAVA, have a lot to offer the organization in the way of contacts and resources that will help them grow.”

Sustainable Surplus has hefty targets to meet this year partly as a result of its achievements of 2012.  Last year SSE tripled its outreach by benefitting over 120 nonprofit and academic organizations in San Diego county with re-purposed resources.
In addition, SSE diverted over 100,000 pounds of waste from the landfill.  “Our goal is to at least double that amount in 2013,” said Prelozni.  With the recent State and County directives on the recycling of solid waste, diversion will be a strong impetus for companies to repurpose their surplus assets.
